ASTEC is a generic and portable front-end allowing to manage all SCI-based simulations such as SCIPIO or STEAMER. It runs on a standards Windows® platform (XP, 2000), and even on laptops (the system requires between 1 and 2 GHz / 512 Mb RAM–depending on the terrain size).

ASTEC™ main advantage is to propose a generic front-end for doctrinal studies, as well as a tool for self-evaluation and training, for command post officers.

. Especially, using ASTEC™, it becomes very easy to test confrontation scenarios, in order to evaluate the adequation of a given course of action.

ASTEC™ allows to perform the following tasks:

• Confrontation of ideas of friend & foe maneuvers
• Mission rehearsal, by testing how the operation plan matches the end-states, thanks to automated double-action simulations
• Development of the operation concept and plan.
