ASTEC™ has been ported on Tablet PCs to impart company- and squadron-level commanders with modelling and simulation capabilities on the battlefield. The MTSB (Mobile Tactical Simulation Battlelab) works on a standard Tablet PC running Windows®. Its simple and intuitive interface enables it to be fully operational in a matter of hours. The system uses a standard symbology (APP6a) - thanks to a very quick computation kernel, the officer can test multiple scenarios in order to enrich his analysis.

• For the basic tactical unit leader (company/squadron): elementary courses of actions are simple, with a limited time range (6 to 12 hours), the MTSB allows evaluating limited courses of actions ; in this case, the ability of ASTEC™ to rapidly yields results is critical;
• For the reinforced battalion task force / battle group level, the MTSB allows evaluating more complex courses of action, which are defined from global or partial confrontations.
• For doctrinal studies in HQ, the MTSB enables to generate very rapidly a realistic tactical context, accounting for example for logistic units. It is therefore possible to generate a large number of simulations, which is especially useful in the context of parametric or capacitary doctrinal studies.
• At last, in the training centers, each trainee can use the MTSB in the learning, preparation or execution of synthetic exercises or CAX, in order to evaluate his know-how in the tactical situation appraisal or in the conception of the maneuver.
